I scan through
tech.memeorandum every day, and while it sometimes seems an ongoing circle jerk on a limited range of topics by a limited group of bloggers, I find it a great summary of what's happening at the moment. But I do have a few suggestions for improvement. I'm basing these observations on the Tech.Memeorandum page for stardate

1)
More discussion links. When you pop open a main story you should see a ton of links that serve as a one-stop jumping-off place to the complete discussion across the net. I was an Academician in a previous life, and my favorite Reference Book was the Citation Index. The Citation Index was wonderful because it took all citations (bibliographic references and footnotes) to an article and displayed them together (in wonderful teeny tiny print!) You could then read those articles, then follow the citations of those citations and feel you were covering the world of information about that topic. Here's
a pic (more about the Citation Index at
Thomson Scientific) to demonstrate what I'm describing about links in the good old days of Big Honkin' Reference Books.
2)
Does anyone need 10 column inches about a new Google beta product? Google Finance was the Google Gagger of the day, and if you click on the March 21 link above you'll see that the references to Google Finance go on forever. I personally don't give a good golly whop about the newest half-baked Google offering, so please, scale back on the Google Love.
3)
Speaking of scaling back, how about offering us a filter on stuff we DON'T want to see. Life is too short. Let me turn off the display of certain people I don't want to encounter in my day? Call it the Pompous Butthole Filter, maybe.
4)
It's all about links. Besides sucking in as many cited discussion links as possible, make sure every list item pops out to display the world that surrounds that topic at the moment. The "More Items" List, that means you! Don't make me go searching for it.
5) More items about Electrically Heated Undershirts.
