A Remarkable Sentence

No laughing matter, this Vermont local news story where a Chow attacked a woman feeding it treats, then the man who tried to pull off the dog and finally the owner herself.  But one sentence in the story floored me as few sentences can.

"The dog's owner, Bonnie Racine, also was bitten when she attempted to end the attack. Then, according to Williston police, the dog ate the piece of flesh it had removed from the female victim's arm."

Dang!

Never heard of a Chow before...But I'll stay far away from them in the future. Rather not be dinner.

Hi, David.  I heard of Chows but not one that makes dinner out of you.  There are lots of chow pics on google images, btw.  Thanks for visiting.

There's a unique irony in the story of a dog breed called a "Chow" that will actually make you its "chow."  Eating the piece of flesh that it had removed from your arm?  If that isn't adding insult to injury, I don't know what is.  And come on... a piece of flesh that the dog "removed" from the victim's am?  That description makes it sound as if the pooch had been performing a surgical procedure.  When it comes to pets, I'm sticking with chihuahuas and lethargic kitties.

Mike,  As usual, little gets past your keen perspective.  I don't have a problem with the flesh being "removed" from the victim, grammatically. You're right, it is rather insulting.  I still don't see you as a chihuahua man.  Thanks for your comments.

We've added a new feature to our site that will make it easier for you to stay up to date with The Stillroom. It's called an "RSS feed." You may not have heard of this term before, but it's a pretty simple concept that we think you'll find useful.

Here's the idea behind RSS feeds... Think about how your email inbox works. When someone wants to send you email, it just shows up in your inbox; you don't need to contact your friends to see if they have any mail for you. RSS feeds extend this concept to websites that you like. You use a "feed reader" to read RSS feeds. There are many feed readers available on the web. There free and there's nothing to install on your computer-- you just access them like any other website. Google has a great feed reader called Google Reader. Just below, there's a YouTube video that shows you how it works. Check it out, and then visit the Google Reader site and give it a try!

Wow, Mike. RSS?  Great concept!  I'll have to check it out.  Smile

Did I post that comment about RSS feeds on Vicki's site to your blog?  I must have clicked in the wrong place.  Great.  Now I'm the laughing stock of the dbvt.com and the entiree Community Server community.  Please remember that there are plenty of grandmas and grandpas out there that aren't hip to all of the latest technological advances.  (In fact, these people make up a considerable segment of the Stillroom's customer base.)

And thank you for your kind note this morning.  I'll respond separately.  Or will I end up reading that on dbvt.com, too?  Smile

Mike, You're such an intriguing man that I assumed it was a marketing strategy that was beyond my grasp.  It was great!

dbvt.com is not worthy to house correspondences to Stillroom personnel, so don't worry about reading anything not officially sanctioned by the Western Pennsylvania Corporate Office here.
