A mirror for SP downloads?

It's the little things that makes a company stand out.  This is a Seth Godinism from Purple Cow or IdeaVirus or some other such Godin book on his now-familiar themes.  But it's true.

I'm trying to download the SQL Server SP4, for instance.  Like 21,354 other schmoes out there.  At this very moment.  So my broadband connection is sucking down SQL2000-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE at the incredible rate of 11.5KB per second.  Only 1 hour and 45 minutes remaining to complete the 68MB file download.

So if the brainy people at Microsoft are going to release a Service pack that they know every damned SQL Server administrator is going to want to download, can't they do a better job of providing access to it, maybe for at least the first 30 days or something?

I think the solution is called BitTorrent...  Just wish microsoft would ditch that "Intelligent Downloader Service" for a smarter technology..

Right, Dan.  That was what I was going after.  Not necessarily throw a bunch of servers online (but if that works...), rather use something more intelligent.  BitTorrent seems an excellent candidate, of course, but not everyone is online with it, like me.
