Few things piss me off more than when I take time to enter a thoughtful comment on someone's blog and end up losing it because of poor CAPTCHA implementation.
I'm a big ITConversations fan as I've said before, so I take the time to add a comment on the WordPress-PHP-Linux-powered blog. "Is that a ZERO or the letter 'O?' I'll try a ZERO." I click SUBMIT and get
The authorization code you entered did not match the code in the image. You will have to obtain a new authorization code and re-enter your comment.
If you use your browser's Back button, make sure you also refresh the page to get a new code. The old one won't work any longer.
My comment is lost, of course. So much for using blogging to build relationships.
It's like someone calling you on the phone and asking your opinion about something. You care enough to give them 15 minutes of your time in a detailed response only afterward saying, "Hello??? Doug??? You there???" So your only response is to say, "blow me" and hang up the phone.
If you use CAPTCHA, don't be a honker.
