blog bits
- I'd love to listen to this non-technical presentation from Rob Howard on blogging, ROI and related social networking topics, but in WMV format alone it will be difficult for me to do the 42 minutes in a computer window while trying to bang out code. If, unlike me, you can do both words and development at the same time, definitely check out the video.
- New Tellicast on the forthcoming Graffiti CMS. (Love the new Tellicast opening, btw.) Yes, there's an accompanying .WAV, but you won't get much if you listen only. In fact, you won't get much by watching the video either, other than a taste of Graffiti's drag-drop UI features and data entry capabilities. For a better look at Graffiti in action check out the Community Server Developers Conference site built with Graffiti.
- Super cool blog post title mouseover popups at dbvt.com! Oh, wait, that's my site. Based on Yahoo's news as my post explains. I also added the popups to my CS Bits blog, which should make it possible to suck in a whole lotta bits with no additional page loading to display the full CS Bit, for most bits anyway.
- A massive Community Server SP3 is on the way, with the SP3 beta released earlier this week. "Massive" as in terms of being a significant update. I'll definitely be installing it, and I usually don't have much enthusiasm for installing CS service packs.
- Rant from Igloocoder on the serialized propertynames / propertyvalues in Community Server used for storing extended attributes of blogs, posts and users. Kevin Harder took the time to provide a logical justification with some history in a comment. Igloocoder "didn't buy it for one second." Ooookay. Bonus utility link: If you need to pull serialized info from a CS table in SQL rather than using the CS APIs, check out the ScottW SQL script Kevin linked to in his comment.
- This Live Writer plugin to insert up to 3 files in a blog post supposedly works with Community Server. Perhaps someone can get back to us on whether it works or not.
