forum bits

  • Bingo Bonzo shares the play-by-play of working through a site upgrade error and uncovers that nutty "Forums Parent Set to Itself" error.  Bingo Bonzo's manifestation of incestual forum relations showed in the error, "A process serving application pool 'Classic .NET AppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '7988'. The data field contains the error number. Event ID = 5011."
  • The Hive.net scroller came up in Gold Forums, and in the process of answering the question I came upon this Tiedt-Complete post from Ben on the WhoIsOnlineScroller control, which was built for Hive.net and included in CS 2.0 and 2.1.
  • Ben Tiedt describes the two sets of languages in Community Server - interface languages (controlled by web/languages) and content languages (such as specifying languages for forums and so forth supported from the filterLanguages cs.config region.)
  • "One is glad to be of service."  For some time now Jose has unselfishly given his time to answer a ton of questions on the Community Server public forums.  Many of those answers find their way to CS Bytes, too. I feel kind of bad though when I think how Jose must think he's going to outpost The Wizard someday.  We love you, Jose, but that just ain't gonna happen.

Thanks for the shout-out Dave! Since the New Year, I've been trying to get on the forums on a daily basis, but you're right The Wizard is in a whole other league...then again, I'll settle for a daily high score every now and then Tong

Your bar is untouchable, Wiz!  It's nice of you to let Jose think he can catch you someday though.
