Since I take so many pictures, my wonderful wifey put a new 4 Megapixel Canon PowerShot A85 under the Christmas Tree with my name on it. She herself has a Canon A75 and its a sweet camera. The Canon is quite a step up from the 2 Megapixal Olympus D-520 I've been using for the last three years.
I used a sandisk reader in the past to transfer pics from my Olympus SmartMedia card, but the Canon uses CompactFlash. So I needed a new reader, and as good fortune would have it, I happened to have purchased a 1GB CompactFlash card for my wife at Christmas and part of the offer was a free Dazzle CompactFlash Reader.
I [finally] installed it today on one of my office machines running Windows 2003 Server and can't help but be amazed at how I am able to just plug in the reader and the Operating System displays a popup saying the new hardware is available for use. This is how everything with computers should work, of course, and hopefully my daughter's generation will assume they always worked that way. But I'm glad I can remember how difficult it used to be to add a peripheral and that I can still be "dazzled" by plug-n-play. |
