I've become rather attached to my Dell Axim X5 over the last three years or so since I bought it. I've blogged on the various experiences I've had with my Axim and even a post titled PocketPC Affection back in February. I'm not saying the PocketPC won't be replaced by a sophisticated single cell phone device someday, but until that happens I will always find a use for my PocketPC.
My Axim screen was dark the other day so I touched it to see it smile at me. It didn't. So as I've done many times over the last three years, I pressed the reboot button. But this time, instead of the blue Dell screen appearing I saw the "Welcome to Axim" screen with an "X" to help me calibrate my pointer. I knew I was in trouble. Then I discovered the awful truth that my PocketPC was wiped clean by the wrath of God!
There's a backup/restore feature in ActiveSync that I discovered after it was too late. Funny, I backup my code and personal data religiously, but never thought to backup my PDA. That will definitely change. Boys and Girls, don't make the same mistake I did. Backup your PocketPC today.
