NEW TO MY SITE? CHECK OUT THESE LINKS. I don't know how I would incorporate this, but I like the idea of listing popular or essential site links to welcome new users or to give visitors an idea of essential DBVT.COM content. Here's an example at Blue Hat SEO (the top of page "New To Blue Hat SEO?") and another at the bottom of Jim Boykin's blog page, "Jim's Favorite Posts." DBVT.COM links would be about...donuts.
SLIGHTLY IMPROVED RSS FEEDS SERVED UP AT DIGG.COM. I read about Digg.com 3.0 so I did what I always do when I hear Digg has been updated, see if they've improved their RSS offerings. I don't want everything on Digg, or everything on the front page or even by category. I want the most popular diggs today or this week, and by category. With Digg 3.0 (or maybe prior to the upgrade and I didn't know it happened) it's finally possible to subscribe to the most popular articles for the most recent 24 hours, week, month and year. That's only for the "All Categories" area however, not individual categories like Technology or Business & Finance, which means Digg still doesn't get it.
LISTEN TO A MOVIE. Interesting 40 unusual websites you should bookmark post led me to ListenToAMovie.com where you can listen to an decent library of movies and television shows. The site has some definite UI and searching issues to fix (and must add RSS), but it's still a treat to listen to a movie for kicks. The first thing I did was listen to the beginning of Apocalypse Now, with The End from The Doors playing as I watch a young Martin Sheen destroying his hotel room in my head. "I wanted a mission. And for my sins they gave me one."
MY MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE DOWN TO FOUR. I can't believe Business 2.0 is going dark. I'm subscribed through 2008 and read it from cover-to-cover. It replaced my Red Herring subscription when it died. Now the only magazines that come to my door and I read are Popular Science, Entertainment Weekly, Wired and MAD Magazine.
THE 10% FACTOR. Sound wisdom from Shel Israel with 6 observations on life made on his 63rd birthday. My favorite is the 10% butt-plug factor and one of the reasons I love Vermont. Same percentage but a smaller aggregate.
