I've been getting a lot from the new Windows Forms 2.0 webcasts at CodeZone. More on some of that material later, but first I wanted to mention how struck I was with Joe Stegman's description of the Primary Goal of Click-Once. He spoke of people architecting .NET 2.0 Windows Forms and determining the One Thing hindering Windows Forms application development: deployment and updates. Then he articulated the goal of Click-Once, "We wanted to make the release and maintenance of Windows Forms applications as easy as Web applications."
"Windows Forms application deployment and maintenance as easy as Web apps..."
That is HUGE if you think about the reality of it and consider the strengths of a connected Rich Client compared to any browser app in planning for the future.
