Gummy Bear 1.1 Is In The Can

I'm happy to announce that Gummy Bear 1.1 is now available in the Sueetie Media Gallery Gummy Bear download folder for registered Sueetie.com users. The upgrade contains a long list of fixes and improvements, most of which were discovered by the fantastic Gummy Bear user community.  One of the surprises of my Sueetie Experience has been the valuable insight and experience that the tribe brings to the product. They not only make Sueetie a better product, but a better product faster.

A complete Gummy Bear 1.1 website package with an installation menu is available as usual.  For the first time an upgrade package containing a SQL update script and website DIFFs is available for current Gummy Bear 1.0.4 users. The 1.0.4 to 1.1 Upgrade Guide is located in the Sueetie Wiki. I also made a point of tweaking the installation docs to improve the experience, both on the Sueetie Wiki Installation Guide and on the Gummy Bear installation page.

Here are the recorded changes and fixes in Gummy Bear 1.1. I know there are others not listed, but these will give you an idea of what we've been working on.

  1. Missing apml.png image added
  2. Compile debug=false and consistent use of passwordlength="6" in web.configs
  3. Missing sql proc to enter forum posts added
  4. Missing delete icon on Account Management page added
  5. Updated the install page documentation and added a post-YAF and GSP wizard SQL Miscellany installation menu step

  7. Screwturn Wiki updated to 3.0.1.4
  8. Automated the process of creating a site blog administrator with new Control Panel function
  9. GetUnreadPMs() SQL proc not SQL 2005 compliant. Fixed.
  10. Updated Marketplace SQL setup script to enforce [dbo] ownership for shared-hosted sites
  11. Added page message in Marketplace to prompt administrator to add a category before entering an Ad for the first time
  12. Header IE logo fix when page width decreased
  13. Gallery Server Pro install sql script bug for hosted environments where dbo not assigned by default
  14. Added IE7 Compatibility metatag to BlogEngine.NET comment post page for IE8 issue in certain shared hosted environments
  15. Moved from SiteBlogEditor role name to more generic BlogEditor role
  16. "Inbox" replaced with "Conversations" in all menus
  17. "Control Panel" moved to app menu with "[CP]" designation
  18. Fixed issue with Forum Topic and Messages being marked private and not displaying in Sueetie List Controls
  19. Added "CommunityFramework" MetaTag to display current Sueetie Framework version and build info
  20. SiteStatistics architecture groundwork
  21. SiteSettings model redesigned to pattern BlogEngine.NET and YetAnotherForum.NET Settings architecture
  22. Three user registration options: automatic, email verification, administrative approval
  23. batch="false" added in web.config to fix SVC bug in certain environments
  24. New slideshow management component
  25. Yaf UserAvatar update fix in Sueetie UserBox control
  26. Removed user delete button in Administration
  27. Missing sql views supporting forum List Controls added.
  28. Fixed inconsistent paging size on Administrative User lists
  29. Added Sueetie UserID to Edit User form. Added IsActive property to SueetieUser.

From a purely selfish perspective, I’m delighted to see Gummy Bear 1.1 out the door so I can focus on some features I’ve wanting to add to Sueetie Core.  Those features are subject to change, but I started listing them on the Gummy Bear Update History chart for Version 1.2.  For the moment they include “Wiki and other new application activity logging. More current application context intelligence for smarter cache management. (User Avatar updates need to occur instantly across the site, for instance.) Background task support. Possibly a YetAnotherForum.NET upgrade to 1.9.4, and all that that implies.”
