Hangin' with the Cool CoComment Dudes again

A certain Telligent MVP gave me the impression earlier today that my CS 2.0 Fanboy Merit Badge was in jeopardy if I didn't support CoComment on my blog like I did with CS 1.1.  So to all CoCoPuffs and CoCoStuds alike, please enjoy DBVT.COM CoComment support.

For other CS 2.0 Fanboy Merit Badge aspirants, the complete 22-line update is located at the top of the ASCX viewable here--from IMPORT NS="CS.Components" on line 3 to SCRIPT SRC="...COCOMMENT.JS" on line 24.

Heh. It was a comment you made that made me look into CoComment for my blog, which I recently enabled!

I knew my lack of progress on my site would pay off.  TechnoratiTags, pictures and now coComments.

Nice job Dave.

Dave, funny!  Yeah, there's very little first mover advantage when we're talkin' Community Server. Let me know if I can help you with any catch-up work.

No dice again.  I get the login prompt and see the checkmark next to the submit button.  No errors and nothing in cocomments.  I normally use Maxthon and saw that it has issues so I'm in IE right now.  Oh well, I tried.

Geez, Erik.  Sorry for the NoComment action.  I remember weird stuff happening when I used Maxthon, now that you mentioned it.  I occasionally had to use IE for better clientside and plugin support.  I've been using Firefox almost exclusively for a long time now, so I don't test on the IE side as much as I should.  Like in this case.  I'll have to see what's up there.  Thanks for trying!

Erik, I used Maxthon at first too, and it didnt' work. Then I tried IE, and still no dice. I've reverted to making comments in Firefox now, and it's been working ever since.

Dave, it's not your site - it's a problem with CoComment. It doesn't play nicely with Maxthon yet - and I think there must be something that Maxthon changes or some sort of interaction going on there that prevents it from working in IE too.

Joel, thanks so much for doing my homework for me!  I'm not surprised it didn't work on Maxthon from my personal experience with Maxthon (before I started using Firefox), but I AM surprised it doesn't work in IE!

Ok, I'm back again and this time in Firefox.  Btw, I loathe using Firefox.  I'm sure its a good browser but it doesn't the nice stuff I've grown to love with Maxthon.

If this works I may keep Firefox installed and just use it for reading blogs so I can use CoComment.

Erik, I felt the very same way about Firefox initially from having very positive feelings about Maxthon.  But for me it was primarily in the differences in how Firefox and Maxthon handled tabs and groups.  Once I adopted to the Firefox approach I haven't found it to be deficient to Maxthon at all...well, I do like how Maxthon handled groups and tabs a bit better.  Smile

Guys, it does work with Maxthon. Here’s how: open your IE, add the coComment bookmarklet, close IE, and then note how the bookmarklet is saved in Maxthon with the correct Javascript! In fact, it is better in Maxthon, as the bookmarklet can handle being activated within Blogger’s pop-up windows.
