Its Not About the Bike

I've had this book for two years in hard cover, but it took an MS Reader version on the Pocket PC for me to read this book from virtual cover to cover, and I LOVED it.

This is such an absorbing book about the human experience, about an exceptional human being, Lance Armstrong, who was a young bicycle champion and athlete who was diagnosed in his mid-twenties with advanced stages of cancer, requiring aggressive treatment and multiple surgery, including brain surgery. It took you with him every step of the way, from the first symptoms of cancer to his treatment and remission, to his fight back to humanness and then to Tour de France winner for multiple years in a row.

I really loved this book. Lance Armstrong doesn't portray himself to be special or a hero in any way, but we can all learn a great deal from the life experience he described in the book. The book moved so quickly, was so quick to draw you in and was such a great story. I'm a recreational biker and never watched a bicycle race in my life, but I really enjoyed the detailed chronicle of the Tour de France and other bicycle races described in this book.

An interesting factoid about this book:  there are 550 reader reviews on the Amazon product page

Definitely read this book.  For fun or whatever.  You'll be better for having taken the ride.
