Or...

Task 'pop.gmail.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted.  If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

I thought I was done setting up the new PC, but then Outlook stopped receiving email.  The thing is that it was receiving email, but stopped, making a quick fix more difficult.  At first I assumed it was Google's POP server.  That can happen, not a problem.  I'll try later.  When I realized it wasn't Gmail, I thought it was the ContentProtect content blocking software I installed earlier in the day.  No, wasn't that.  Then I thought it might be the Windows Firewall.  No, wasn't that.  Finally I stumbled on my McAfee Virus Protection software and noticed it was scanning email--as it should.  I unchecked email scanning and tried Outlook again.

That did it.

An interesting approach to email virus protection, if you ask me.  Just block all incoming email.  Yeah.  That'll keep us safe.  Apparently this can be a problem with other Antivirus software as well, so it's not just McAfee.  Definitely bogus and something that just oughta work.
