Mr Feel Good hangs around after a ClickOnce application upgrade

Just so we're clear, Mr. Feel Good is not Mr. Happy.  I'm talking about the good feeling that persists two days after a successful Smart Client update.  If Mr. Happy were ever to persist for two days, you'd want to call your doctor immediately.

I posted a few weeks ago on how satisfying it was to see the Smart Client app I've been working on running on the company network after a successful ClickOnce deployment.  That release validated the Smart Client concept and showed the feature set for evaluation.  Because all systems were go! go! go! after the initial release, the upgrade on Friday was to add functionality and show the app running in a multiuser environment.  Like the initial release, my Systems Admin at HQ launched the app, closed it, and re-opened it, at which point the ClickOnce prompt displayed to notifiy him that a new version was available.  (I configured ClickOnce to check for updates after app launch to improve start-up performance, so the app has to be started, then closed before the update process launches.)

When I saw the updated app on my desktop and knew my System Admin was describing the same experience on his machine I heard Foreigner sing "it feels like the first time" like it was 1977.  The same satisfaction I felt after the initial release I sensed again after Friday's update.  Something about a .NET 2.0 Smart Client app compared to years of web apps with ClickOnce deployment has been doing it for me.  And Mr. Feel Good hangs tough even now on Sunday, two days later.  In fact, I'm feeling really good.  Wait a minute... Mr. HAPPY!
