My Vermont U.S. Rep steps up for Internet Radio

I received the following email tonight from Peter Welch, our Vermont Representative in Congress.  I haven't followed-up with Bernie or Leahy yet, but will have to get on that.

Dear Mr. Burke,

Thank you again for your previous correspondence regarding royalty rates for internet radio broadcasters.

I wanted to let you know that I have become a cosponsor of H.R. 2060, the Internet Radio Freedom Act. H.R. 2060 would overturn the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB)'s decision that is so harmful to internet radio broadcasters, particularly small and non-profit broadcasters. It would instead implement a rate formula equivalent to that applied to satellite radio, cable radio, jukeboxes, and record companies. This bill is currently being considered by the House Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on Energy and Commerce. You can be sure that I will be working with my colleagues to help secure passage of this important bill.

Thank you again for contacting me on this important matter. Please continue to stay in touch, and I look forward to seeing you in Vermont soon.

Sincerely,
Peter Welch
United States Congress
