My favorite TV show: Ace of Cakes

There are a few really good shows on television now (a few), though I actually watch more television on DVDs through NetFlix than on my DVR.  Here is a show that always makes it to the DVR:  Ace of Cakes, a reality show about a bakery in Baltimore owned by a funster named Duff.  It takes you through a week of cake creation while spotlighting the personalities who work in the bakery doing their jobs, and pretty darn skillfully, too.

"So what's your favorite show on television, Dave?"  "It's a reality show about everyday life in a Baltimore cake shop.  It's really fantastic!"

Here's a new commercial for the show featuring some pissed-off clowns that captures the zany spirit of the show.

Hey Dave, I like that show, too. I'm a former US Marine not working as a web programmer. After leaving the USMC, my wife and I both worked at an Artisan bakery here in Raleigh, NC. I miss the work, it just don't pay much if ya' know what I mean. I'm not a runner (anymore) like yourself, but I'm a dedicated backpacker and weight lifter. I have lived in the South my whole life (and traveled the world) but I have been to Vermont to see an ex-girlfriend. It was several years ago in September. I recall it's the most beautiful place in the US I had ever been. Though cold in the winter, it's just a great place with great people. I have bought Community Sever and I see you post there. I go by "buchemi1" on that site.

Hi, Will!  Yeah, I guess you need to make a cable TV deal to make any real money in the baking business.  Duff's cakes are never less than a thousand bucks, from what I've seen, so that helps, too.

I lived in Greenville a few years, thought I was going to stay in NC the rest of my life, but then I met this girl...

Cold is relative, but if you're used to the easy life in NC (ice scraper?  what's that???), then it might take a little adjustment, but it's not like North Dakota cold or something.  It's not the temperature anyway, it's the wind!  Smile

Next time you're backpacking in Vermont, look me up!  I'll watch for the Buchemi1 at cs.org.  Thanks for saying hey!
