Photo uploading with Gallery Server Pro

I created new Tourist in Vermont photo albums in DBVT.COM/Photos.  The most interesting I think is the Shelburne Museum album with photos from our visit this past Sunday.  If you don't know about the Shelburne Museum (I didn't before moving to Vermont), its 45 acres house 39 exhibition buildings with the most eclectic and interesting collections you can imagine.  The second photo album I added was our Half Moon Pond State Park camping weekend from earlier this month.  The Very Vermonty football field is Middlebury College.

I enjoy sharing new Tourist in Vermont photo albums, but the real reason for this post is to describe the album creation and photo upload process in Gallery Server Pro, the Open Source media gallery application I use for my photo gallery.

When logged in as a Gallery Server Administrator, administrative functions are available in the admin popout menu. When I want to add my Shelburne Museum photo album for instance, I select "Create Album" while in my "Tourist in Vermont" album.

I then create the album, specifying "A Tourist in Vermont" as the album's parent album.  Any album can have multiple parents in Gallery Server Pro, but I've always been a one-parent-album kind of guy.

Because the administrative menu operations in Gallery Server Pro are self-aware, I am next asked if I want to add objects to my new photo album.

Here is a feature of Gallery Server Pro album administration that I really like, the ability to upload one or more .ZIP files which automatically extract and display on upload (as in immediately and not waiting on a background task.)  The upload feature also provides a sweet upload status widget.

I haven't decided whether I'll be staying with Gallery Server Pro for the longer term, but it's an excellent app as you can see by the slick administrative capabilities.  Whether I stay with Gallery Server Pro or not, I think Obi-Wan and Yoda nailed it.

Yoda: Told you I did. Reckless are they. Now, matters are worse.
Obi-Wan: That Community Server 2008 Media Gallery is our last hope.
Yoda: No. There is another.

thanks for the post. I did an image gallery search blitz a few months back and ran across GSP. Is far as I can tell, it's the only active stand alone ASP.NET image gallery around, and It actually has excellent documentation! would be interested in your short list if you have one.

Jamez, your list is probably more extensive than mine.  There's a BE.NET Photo Gallery app that I spent some time with, but it seems to have been abandoned.  It changed too much of the BE.NET Core anyway and would have meant following a forked BE.NET which I didn't want to do.  I'm still open to others, but you're right, GSP is very complete.  Thanks for your comments.
