Sam Gentile spoke on SOA at the Vermont .NET User's Group tonight. He did a great job defining Service Orientation and covering the WSE 3.0 framework. He introduced Indigo and laid out a working approach for us in building our applications to be ready for Indigo when the time is ready to make the move. I thought it was helpful to know what Indigo is handling for us under the covers, so I was thankful for the WSE 3.0 content. Time ran out for Sam to spend as much time with Indigo as some may have liked, but I thought it was a great night.
To add peanut butter icing to an already great chocolate cake, some of us went out to a local Irish Pub on Church Street in downtown Burlington to share more of Sam's wit and wisdom. As for general observations of Sam Gentile (the legend), he was darn-near mellow tonight. Maybe because he was away from the hustle-and-bustle of New Hampshire he was more at peace, I don't know. But I'm worried Sam is losing some of his sarcastic verve. In my view it is one of his most endearing qualities, after all.
I blogged on Sam's first presentation at VTDotNet in September of 2003 and did not expect to ever have another opportunity to do so. But to our good fortune, I am able to blog about another Sam Gentile visit to Vermont. Thanks, Sam!
