Sueetie Profile Updates: Member Bios

While I was working with the Sueetie Member Account page for Following and Friends I figured I needed to create a Member Public Profile page as well.  Then I had this empty space on the Member Public Profile page and realized I needed to fill it.  It was time for a new Member Bios feature!

Here's my Public Member Profile page, displaying my mug and bio.  You'll also see a tab to display my Following and Friends info.

Below is the new Bio panel in the Sueetie Member Account Page.  Time to talk editors.  Can you identify the editor I'm using?  Right!  TinyMCE.  I figured if it was good enough for the new BlogEngine.NET 1.5 release then it was good enough for Sueetie.

I'm happy with the choice of TinyMCE for several reasons.  I initially went with the JQuery NicEdit editor, but it didn't play well with the Ajax Control Kit Tab Panels I'm using.  Then I went with the brand new htmlEditor control in the latest Ajax Control Toolkit released only a few days ago.  It worked great, but it simply had too many buttons.  (I always think of the line from Amadeus when I say "too many."  It had too many notes, Mozart!)  I didn't want to have to do any HTML scrubbing and I wanted complete control of which buttons to display to reduce Bio ugliness as much as possible.  TinyMCE--particularly how those sharp dudes behind BlogEngine.NET implemented it--gave me that ability.

What's next for Sueetie, now that we're displaying Following with a Bio bonus?  We should probably go ahead and display Favorites on the User Account and Profile pages now that Following is complete.  After that I think we'll take a look at global Content Parts and displaying application "Latest Posts…" on an updated Sueetie Home Page.  I only hope we can keep the Ice Cream Cone.
