I don’t actually know if Sueetie is the world’s first mobile online community application or not, but it makes for a good headline. If you know of other online community applications that are fully mobile-enabled like Sueetie now is, please tell me what they are.
When I went mobile with DBVT.COM you knew a mobile version of Sueetie.com was coming. As I said in the DBVT.COM mobile announcement, I started with my personal DBVT site because it had less moving parts. Sueetie had membership functions, a forum and a wiki that required mobile support as well.
The Big News in a Nutshell
Sueetie is now a fully mobile online community application supporting mobile member functions, mobile blogs, a mobile forum, media gallery and wiki. Sueetie Mobile will be included in Sueetie 1.4 planned for late September release. You can view what may very well be the world’s first mobile-enabled online community at Sueetie.com on your iPhone or mobile device.
How It’s Done
In the DBVT.COM Mobile Announcement I told you about the new Chiclet Theme. This is the mobile theme you see at Sueetie.com in Lollipop Red. (Screenshots below.) I’ll write more about the technical details of creating a fully mobile online community, but for now we’ll mention that Sueetie’s mobile presentation logic is based on BlogEngine.NET’s mobile theming where device detection determines which theme to use. All urls are shared (there is no mobile.sueetie.com), with url rewriting occurring on select pages and files used by both the Current Sueetie Theme and the new Current Sueetie Mobile Theme.
Sueetie Mobile Screenshots
Let’s look at the comparisons between the PC screenshots of Sueetie and their mobile counterparts starting with the home page.

Mobile Aggregate Blogs Page
We’re supporting multiple blogs in the mobile version, and here’s the aggregate blogs and most recent posts page. You can see a screenshot comparison of a BlogEngine.NET blog front page on the DBVT.COM mobile announcement.

Mobile Gallery Server Pro
Like DBVT.COM the Sueetie.com Media Gallery is now fully mobile-enabled.

Mobile YetAnotherForum.NET
Here’s something that I KNOW you’ve never seen before, a mobile version of YetAnotherForum.NET. Yeah, it rocks.

Mobile ScrewTurn Wiki
Something else you’ve never seen before, a mobile version of ScrewTurn Wiki, available for your mobile enjoyment at http://sueetie.com/wiki

Miscellaneous Mobile Functions
To be a fully-mobile community application, Sueetie.com needed mobile versions of membership functions like logging in, account activation, registration and on-screen messaging. Below you see an example with the site’s mobile login page.

Like I said, I’ll blog more about the details soon. Chiclet is a Version 1.0 of a mobile theme, so you can expect it to get better with more mobile-specific enhancements. The main objective in Version 1.0 was to mobile-enable all applications and their primary functions. This includes entering new YetAnotherForum.NET posts, for instance, but it does not include YAF administrative functions, or any administrative functions, for that matter. Those can be performed on a laptop.
It’s an exciting first step and I’ll be looking forward to what users will be doing with Sueetie Mobile when Sueetie 1.4 is available.
