Jayson Knight added a lengthy comment to my
Week One review of Community Server 2.0. (The comment permalink
is here.) He enlightened me to several new CS 2.0 (and some pre-existing) add-ons and functions. He turned me on to two SWEEEEET image handling functions which I'll describe in more detail later. They're listed in this comment excerpt: Chiwi's CS Gallery Manager and the new Content Selector in CS 2.0.
For multiple photo uploading bliss, I highly recommend Chiwi's CS Gallery Manager: http://www.luzern.co.nz/blogs/dev_blog/archive/category/1028.aspx (though his site seems to be down at the moment). I haven't done any heavy lifting with it yet, but it looks extremely promising. It's a winforms app that allows this functionality and oh so very much more.
As far as the Galleries Integration Piece, I'm not entirely sure what your mod did, but the easiest way to add CS content to blog posts is by clicking the content selector icon in the post editor (last icon on the right), and you can embed content in your posts (you don't have full control over the exact size of images, but there are 5 or so size options). Brand spankin' new for 2.0. Scott is also working on a desktop posting tool that will further enhance the CS integration story...look for it soon (lots of CS specific goodies in it).
Capcha is soooo 20th century. I highly recommend ReverseDOS (just Google it). Since I installed it, I've been 100% spam free (took some configuration trial and error on my part, but that baby hums wonderfully). On my todo list is test out the built in spam blocker in CS, but I haven't gotten around to it yet (if it ain't broke...).
I read Jayson's informative comment and thought how much this guy knew about CS and, conversely, how far I slipped out of the info loop. (First thing I did this morning was re-activate my CommunityServer.Org NNTP feeds in Outlook Express to try to get back into the game.) Jayson, as a Telligent MVP, is certainly an asset to Telligent and the Community Server developer community. Thanks for going Public Abstract String JaysonKnight{} with the excellent CS information, dude. (As opposed to Protected Virtual Void... heh! heh! Get it?)
Sincerely, a big public thanks!
