Vista Night at Vermont .NET

We saw some interesting developer features of .NET 3.0 running on Vista tonight at the Vermont .NET Users Group.  Workflow, Communication Foundation, Cardspace and Presentation Foundation.  Pretty impressive, but I have to say that I am utterly and completely disinterested in all things Vista.  There is nothing in Vista that I find compelling or that will improve the quality of my digital life.  Don't bother me with it.

Because tonight was a Vista .NET 3.0 Launch Event, there were 5 Vista Business Edition DVDs raffled off.  I wanted to win one to see what the room reaction would have been when I said I didn't want it.  That would have been fun.

I've been giving serious thought to popping over to Small Dog Electronics on a weekday and spending some quality time playing with a Mac. I'm much more interested in buying a Mac than "experiencing Vista." I need to dump my Microsoft stock, too.  I've been sitting on it for far too long.

I'm obviously in a sour Microsoft mood tonight.

You mean you aren't interested in the new way Vista handles memory that allows for less hard drive utilization? Or the way it allows flash memory to be used as RAM? What about the new built-in search indexing and the ability to launch programs by searching rather than utilizing the task bar? The new image based deploy option for enterprises? The Calendar and Contacts applications now built-in? A totally different Windows Update? A Disk Cleanup that cleans all users - not just the currently logged in user? Advanced automatic error handling? Built-in Windows Defender? Updated two-way firewall? The ability to shrink and expand partitions without utilizing third-party applications?

David, You're the first guy to talk about Vista as if you really like it!  Certainly the presenters last night (great guys who I like and who knew their stuff) had no good things to say about the OS.  Several complaints about the crap they're now working through is what I remember from their presentations.  Thanks for the positive Vista injection though!
