I am ready for Whidbey Beta 2.0. When beta 2 is released, we can move. Until then it just doesn't make sense investing precious time in developing applications in a Beta 1.0 product. If I can't build them to be used at my company, then I'll spend my time in Visual Studio 2003 and .NET 1.1 building what I CAN run at my company.
I am ready to begin coding in Whidbey. I wasn't before, but I am now. It is time.
I want my company to enjoy Windows Forms. With limited time and resources, to stay with what works I continue to build web applications. My company and my users deserve better, but even if I wanted to begin building Smart Client versions of our business applications, its idiocy to build them in .NET 1.1 only to incur re-writes for Visual Studio 2005. So I wait for Whidbey Beta 2.0 so I can plunge into building Smart Client applications and move our company forward. There are also revenue opportunities we want to pursue in Smart Client application development that must be postponed until Whidbey Beta 2.0.
Whidbey is getting real, as is the importance of the Beta 2.0 release which I hope comes soon.
