What nanobots taking over the world would look like

We recently discovered SG1 and are going through the seasons on DVD through NetFlix.  Interesting in that we've never watched a show broadcast on television.  Our SG1 experience is solely on DVD, enjoying the process of going through the series chronologically from the beginning.

We recently made it to the Season Three finale "Nemesis," where the Replicators first appeared.  Replicators are artificial organisms that take the form of small metallic bugs that kill and rapidly replicate.  Watching them consume the natural materials of the Asgard spaceship made me think of how that image must be what it would be like in a nanobot accident, consuming our world at the molecular level.

One of my favorite books, Our Molecular Future by Douglas Mulhull, uses an example of nanotechnology saving our world through a planet-killing asteroid being "eaten" by self-assemblying nanobots.  I sure hope the dang things don't eat Earth before they perfect that asteroid-eating technique.

Glad to see you have passed through the Chappa'ai.  Make sure you get Atlantis at the appropriate time and watch that in-sync with Stagate - About season 7 or 8 I think.

Peter!  That's the most valuable information I received on this blog in weeks.  So Atlantis is synch'd with SG1???  I'll definitely be investigating.  My sister owns every SG1 DVD plus we're still in season 4 so confidence is high I'll be able to coordinate the SG1-Atlantis integration.  Thanks.
