Embedded Media Now on the Sueetie Wall

The Sueetie Wall now supports embedded media like video, music, slideshows and more. First here’s a screenshot of embedded media on the Sueetie Wall, or experience it yourself at http://sueetie.com/wall.

Adding Embedded Media

To add embedded media on a Sueetie Wall Message, simply enter the URL in your message body, like so.

Determining Embedded Media Urls

All urls entered in the body of a Wall Message (or comment) are automatically converted to live hyperlinks. Sueetie knows which links contain embedded media based on the address excerpts listed in the Sueetie.Config "EmbeddedProviders" property. You can enter as many or as few providers as your particular community requires.

Using Embedly

Sueetie uses the Embedly Media Url Provider service to display embedded media. Below is a screenshot of Embedly’s current provider list of over 200 services, which continues to grow. To use the Embedly service you will create an account and choose the plan that best suites your community needs, either the free plan or one of the monthly commercial plans. More about Embedly at http://embed.ly.

Managing your Embedly API Key

To use the Embedly service requires sending your API Key with each request of the service. Sueetie takes care of the details for you, with all you needing to do is enter the API Key in your Addon Pack Settings.

The Sueetie Wall with Embedded Media is getting funner and funner.  More fun on the way.

A long time developer, I was an early adopter of Linux in the mid-90's for a few years until I entered corporate environments and worked with Microsoft technologies like ASP, then .NET. In 2008 I released Sueetie, an Online Community Platform built in .NET. In late 2012 I returned to my Linux roots and locked in on Java development. Much of my work is available on GitHub.
