Your Sueetie Inbox is now Available

The Sueetie Member Inbox is now accessible from all pages in all applications on a Sueetie Community Site.  The Inbox itself isn’t a Sueetie Component, but rather the Inbox of YetAnotherForum.NET with all of its built-in functionality.  The global inbox link is an example of one of the basic tenants of Sueetie–leveraging existing application functionality in new ways.

Above is a YetAnotherForums.NET page showing the smart Inbox link along with new toolbar items Subscriptions, Signature and Messages.  YAF.NET typically lists a "Forum Profile" toolbar item, but we don’t need it with Sueetie Member Profiles.  So we pulled out the "Subscriptions" and "Signature" functions and with our new global Inbox access have created a Sueetie Message Center.

As for using the control, it’s simply dropped in the .Master file.

The Inbox Sueetie Control is the work of Joe Shearn of Ambay Software, the rock star behind Sueetie Content Parts.  Joe originally devised a JQuery popup window control to display when new mail was received, containing the message subject and author with a direct link to that message.  Very cool, really, but I wanted to deploy a more conventional version at Sueetie.org.  Joe’s control remains in the Sueetie source and will be available as an alternative.

A long time developer, I was an early adopter of Linux in the mid-90's for a few years until I entered corporate environments and worked with Microsoft technologies like ASP, then .NET. In 2008 I released Sueetie, an Online Community Platform built in .NET. In late 2012 I returned to my Linux roots and locked in on Java development. Much of my work is available on GitHub.
